Week of September 21

Hello Families!

It was another fantastic week in our classroom! Your students are amazing and it has been so nice to get to know them both in school and virtually on Friday.

This week, we begin the 3rd week of our phase-in process. 100% of students will be in school each day for the full day. We will be working on a lot of routines and procedures this week!

Late Start:

This week we have our first late start day (Wednesday September 23). Please don't forget that school will begin 1 hour later. Drop off will begin at 9:45am and bus routes will also be one hour later than normal.

Back to School Night:

Unfortunately we will not be able to do our regular Back to School Night activities, but please keep an eye out for an email from me with some information about our Virtual Back to School Night. This slide show will include some vital information for your student and our class this year.

NWEA Testing:

We will begin our reading and math NWEA testing this week. Your student will not need to study for this assessment; it is one of a few assessments that I will be using this year to help guide my instruction for your student this year.

We will take our Reading NWEA assessment on Wednesday September 23rd and our Math NWEA assessment on Thursday September 24th. Friday September 25th will be our reserved make-up day in the event your student needs more time to finish the assessment.

Take Home Folders:

On your students first day of school, they received a blue "take home folder" to use this school year. This folder will go back and forth from home to school each day. Each student has a personal mailbox in our classroom where they will place their returned in-class work as well as notes from the office, etc. You will see a majority of your students paperwork come home in their folder on Friday. Please take a moment to look through the paperwork and remove from their folder.

Scholastic Book Orders:

Each month, I'll be sending home a set of Scholastic book order forms. Ordering books is completely optional but is a fantastic way to grow your at-home library collection at a low cost.

Each book that is ordered helps our classroom to earn free books for our class library and the students LOVE to see what new books we receive each month.
If you are ever interested in ordering books as a gift and want me to set them aside for you to pick up, please let me know.
You can click the following link to place an order through our class ordering page: https://orders.scholastic.com/L63HX

Orders for this month are due by Friday October 9th.

Picture Day:

Picture day will be Wednesday September 30! Please keep an eye out for more information coming soon.

Important Getting to Know Your Student Survey:

If you have not already filled out the Getting to Know You form, please do so as soon as possible. Thank you so much for helping me to get to know your student a bit better!
